There are also a lot of other things to consider beyond just your computer in an office environment. For instance, a computer is not much good anymore without internet access. And that brings up a whole new bundle of questions and issues to deal with such as do you want wireless in your office? If you do then you need a wireless router. There are even printers now that are wireless and that can be a nice function to have. But perhaps your office is already wired for internet with wall jacks in each office. Then you may not need or want wireless as wireless has more security issues you have to account for than a traditional wired setup.
The there are your phones. Phone systems have really changed with the advent of VOIP or basically phone service over the internet. VOIP is the cheapest way to go and brings a lot of wonderful features such as voice mail, caller id, call forwarding, unlimited long distance and more for a very low price. But VOIP is not as good quality as a traditional cooper hard wired phone. Traditional lines may cost you more though and that needs to be considered. With VOIP if you lose your internet service then you lose your phone lines. Traditional phone lines almost never go down these days unless it is something major like a hurricane or earthquake.
Then you have the basics like paper, copier, fax machine (maybe, not used as much anymore but most businesses), pencils, pens, tape, folders, binders, and all the other do dads that are needed to be in business. Maybe you don’t have an office per say but have a retail operation. Then you probably need a cash resgister or computerized Point of Sale (POS) system to track your sales revenues and inventory. That brings up the subject of forms and other related items. You will need business cards, and possibly invoices, and others documents. You can have these things printed up online at many places or if you call around you can also get some good prices locally.
Whatever the case may be there is a lot involved with having an office and getting the best products for your needs at prices that won’t break the bank. Oh, did I mention the coffee maker?
